The
Embodied
Trainer

From Subject Matter Expert to Performance Architect

You were put in a training role because you’re good at your job. But great trainers aren’t born from expertise — they’re built from intentional practice, adult learning science, and the sustainable habits that make a long career possible. This program bridges that gap.

“Subject Matter Expertise ≠ Training Expertise. Let’s bridge that gap — sustainably.”

The Real Problem

You were promoted to trainer. But nobody taught you how to train.

Organizations routinely pull their best performers into training roles, hand them a slide deck, and call it a program. The result? Brilliant subject matter experts who exhaust themselves trying to “make” people learn — and who burn out within a few years.

If any of these feel familiar, you’re in the right place.

  • You know your content cold, but you’re not sure your training actually changes behavior when people return to their jobs.
  • You leave sessions exhausted — emotionally and physically — and you’re not sure how long you can sustain this pace.
  • Stakeholders treat you as an order-taker, not a strategic partner — and you lack the vocabulary to change that dynamic.
  • You can’t prove ROI, so your training budget is always at risk when leadership needs to cut costs.
The Six-Competency Framework

What you’ll master across 7 weeks

Every competency is built toward one goal: training that creates measurable performance change — delivered by a trainer who can sustain a long, meaningful career.

01
Diagnose Before You Design
Distinguish training problems from process, performance, or management problems. Stop building solutions for problems training can’t solve.
02
Design with Precision
Create training using adult learning principles, measurable objectives, and practical application aligned to real business outcomes.
03
Facilitate with Confidence
Use Training from the Back of the Room® strategies. The person doing the talking is the person doing the learning.
04
Build Transfer Systems
Create on-the-job supports — manager cues, job aids, practice loops — that make learning stick beyond the training event.
05
Evaluate & Prove Value
Apply Kirkpatrick’s Four Levels and Phillips ROI methodology. Speak the language of business results, not training activity.
06
Sustain Yourself
Wellness isn’t extra — it’s infrastructure. Build the physical, emotional, and professional practices that make a 20-year career possible.
The Embodied Difference

The only trainer certification that treats you as the instrument

Most L&D certifications teach you what to do in the room. We teach you how to show up to the room — physically regulated, emotionally resilient, and professionally sustainable.

This is the integration of somatic wisdom and instructional science. You’ll learn the same breath, movement, and grounding practices we teach your learners — because a depleted trainer creates mediocre learning experiences. A regulated trainer creates transformational ones.

Physical Sustainability
Vocal health, pre-session rituals, energy management — protecting your instrument so it lasts decades, not years.
Emotional Sustainability
Compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, emotional labor — recognize and recover from the invisible work of facilitation.
Professional Sustainability
Strategic positioning, boundary scripts, stakeholder language — become the partner who’s sought out, not the order-taker who burns out.
Micro-Practice Library
1-minute breath, grounding, and movement tools for you AND your learners — attention-reset is instructional design, not wellness fluff.

Common Questions

Everything you need to decide

The Program
No. This program is designed to meet you where you are — whether you’re a subject matter expert stepping into a training role for the first time, or an experienced L&D professional upgrading your methodology and sustainability practices. The small cohort format means you’ll learn alongside peers at different stages of their journey.
Plan for approximately 4–6 hours per week: your live session (2 hours for virtual evenings, full days for kickoff and capstone), pre-work, and time building your capstone project. Everything you create during the program is directly applicable to your actual job.
You’ll design and deliver a complete training module based on a real need in your organization — including a needs analysis, learning objectives, session blueprint, engagement strategies, a transfer plan, and an evaluation framework. You deliver it live on October 22nd and graduate with a training asset ready to deploy.
Yes. We offer group enrollment for organizations looking to upskill their L&D teams, build internal trainer pipelines, or support subject matter experts transitioning into facilitator roles. Group pricing and customization are available. Reach out at contact@embodiedwisdominstitute.com.
The wellness framework is woven throughout the program — not siloed as an optional add-on. You don’t have to be a meditator or wellness enthusiast. You just need to be open to the idea that your physical and emotional state affects your learners’ experience. Research backs this up, and you’ll feel the difference immediately.
We provide a full vegetarian lunch on September 11th at The Welcoming Place. If you have additional dietary restrictions or allergies, please let us know when you register and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
Technology & Attendance
Virtual sessions are held via Google Meet — no special software or downloads required. Prior to the first virtual session, you’ll receive a meeting link by email that will be reused for all subsequent virtual sessions. For the best learning experience, we ask that you join from a desktop or laptop computer rather than a phone or tablet. A stable internet connection, working camera, and microphone are all you need.
All seven sessions are required in order to complete the program and receive your certificate of completion. We built this as a live, cohort-based experience intentionally — your presence contributes to the learning of everyone in the room.

If a session is missed due to an unforeseen circumstance, a make-up session with Jason is available at a rate of $150 per hour. Please reach out to contact@embodiedwisdominstitute.com as soon as possible to schedule.
Sessions will not be recorded. This is an intentional choice — the cohort experience depends on full presence, open conversation, and the kind of candid learning that happens best when participants know they’re in a live, contained space. We encourage you to block your calendar for all seven sessions before enrolling.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Professional Development Units (PDUs) are not offered at this time. Participants will receive a certificate of completion from Embodied Wisdom Institute upon successfully finishing all sessions and delivering their capstone project.
Accessibility & Support
We are committed to making this program as accessible as possible. If you have accessibility needs — whether related to a disability, a learning difference, or any other consideration — please reach out to Vanessa Simmons at contact@embodiedwisdominstitute.com prior to the program start. Vanessa will be happy to connect with you before the training begins to explore how we can best support your experience.
